A new REF Open Access policy comes into effect in January 2026. To support its implementation, the Bodleian is launching a campaign built around three simple steps: Connect, Check and Deposit:

  1. Connect - Link your ORCID in Symplectic Elements and enable auto-claiming.
  2. Check - If your article is made open access by the publisher, confirm that it is genuinely open (e.g., has a license such as CC BY).
  3. Deposit - If your article isn’t made open access immediately by the publisher (or you're unsure), deposit it in ORA (Oxford University Research Archive).

Following these steps can save you time and help ensure your work is fully compliant for REF submission.
