Council is the University's executive governing body. It is responsible, under the Statutes, for “the advancement of the University's objects, for its administration, and for the management of its finances and property” and has “all the powers necessary for it to discharge those responsibilities”.

There are 26 positions on Council, and two members of Medical Sciences Division are currently standing for election. Professor Fran Platt, Head of Pharmacology, is standing in the MSD/MPLS constituency, and Dr Catherine Swales, Director of Clinical Studies at the School of Medicine, is standing in the non-divisional constituency.

All members of congregation are eligible to vote in these elections. You can read more about how elections work at the University in this digest on the GRC Hub (SSO required).
