The Doctor of Medicine (DM) Course Director will provide academic leadership for the graduate studies activity, both admissions and on course, and take a full and active part in these. The programme currently admits 10-20 DM students a year with an expectation to grow to approx. 40 students on course at any one time. The role offers the opportunity for engagement with the Medical Sciences Division and Oxford University Clinical Academic Graduate School (OUCAGS).

The DM Director will be supported in post by the strong and experienced graduate studies team in the MSD Graduate School. 

The role-holder should be a senior clinical academic/researcher or equivalent with a contract of employment with the University of Oxford that extends beyond the initial three-year appointment period for this Directorship. They should be a strong advocate for clinical graduate studies, committed to leading and taking part in the full range of graduate activities with the programme – not limited to three rounds of admissions per academic year but also including cohort building activities and supporting students and interested applicants. 

This position carries with it an academic responsibility allowance of 50% of the RA Schedule IV (which is currently £12,031 PA so 50% is £6,015.5 PA (as at May 2025)), which will be up uplifted annually by the agreed cost of living increase (due on 1 August). The allowance is paid on a monthly basis. 

The start date could be as early as late June, depending on completion of the selection process and the availability of the successful candidate, which would enable participation in the final gathered field of DM applications alongside the outgoing Director.
