The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences hosted an in-person meeting of colleagues working in the area of alumni communications and engagement from across the Division and other parts of the University with strong links to medical sciences. This was the first time that colleagues came together specifically to address this area within the context of Medical Sciences.
Colleagues discussed the new University strategy for alumni engagement and shared ideas, tips, and even barriers to how this might be effective within their own areas.
According to Claire Grainger, the University’s Deputy Director of Alumni Engagement, ‘Alumni have an important role to play in contributing to the mission and success of the University, as well as being enablers of Oxford's global impact.’
This is a sub-group of the Alumni Engagement Across Oxford (AEAO) Community of Practice, which includes professional services colleagues and academics working in, or exploring effective options for involving alumni within academic life. These include supporting students with internships, placements and career pathways, and liaising with academics on knowledge exchange and policy.
