Strategic Planning and Projects
The Strategic Planning and Projects team has two core functions.
First, it coordinates the Division’s strategic planning activities. This is undertaken on an annual basis and involves the engagement of the Division’s departments in outlining their academic objectives and resource requirements for each five-year planning period. Activities include:
- academic and strategic planning
- capital and space planning
- financial planning
- the provision of management information in support of the above activities.
Second, it supports departments in the delivery of projects. These are often capital projects where the team helps departments develop their plans, guides them through the University’s system for governing capital projects, and supports them through construction. The team also supports non-capital projects, such as the acquisition of new research units (via TUPE transfers) or the creation of new research institutes and the development of associated governance models.
The team plays an important role in the relationships with key external stakeholders when it comes to planning and project activities. In addition, the team leads the management of resources allocated to the Medical Sciences Divisional Office itself.
