The Safety Office and departmental Senior Radiation Protection Supervisors (SRPS) are collaborating with IT Services to implement a new system, Odyssey, to record and manage information related to the University’s ionising radiation activities.

In line with the EveryDaySafe programme, the new radiation management system will:

  • replace multiple paper-based processes to streamline workflows and provide departments better visibility and ownership to manage their own data
  • enable quicker decision making with the Safety Office and individual departments having instant access to up-to-date information
  • increase compliance with UK safety legislation by recording our inventory and any waste generated in a secure online system with improved reporting functionality

From 1 July, the registration of radiation workers will be completed via Odyssey’s online registration form and approval workflow. Please contact your department SRPS for more information or if you want to register to work with ionising radiation. Managing radioactive materials inventory, radioactive waste, machines and equipment in Odyssey will go-live later in the year.

If you would like to know more about the new system, please contact Lindsey Hale at rmp@it.ox.ac.uk or please join us for one of our online briefings.
