We are seeking academic supervisors to support students in Years 1 and 2 of the four-year Graduate Entry Medicine programme to pursue an area of academic special interest.
Year 1
Students will dedicate one day on alternate weeks, primarily between January and March 2026, to their academic special interest work. By mid-Trinity Term (May 2026), they will submit a literature review (not a full systematic review) on their chosen topic, which will form part of their Year 1 assessment. Supervision requirements for this component are expected to be minimal, typically no more than two hours.
Year 2
Students will have a protected four-week block at the end of the academic year (May 2026) to further develop their project, which will generally build on their Year 1 literature review. Project work may include original research, data collection (qualitative or quantitative), analysis of existing datasets, or formal synthesis of published literature. Students must submit an outline plan for approval prior to commencing this work. At the end of the block, they will provide an abstract and deliver an oral presentation summarising their findings.
Students will develop their project title and scope in collaboration with their nominated supervisor.
