Doctoral Training Centre Degrees
Course code: TM_NS6A1
The four-year Doctoral Training Programme in Neuroscience has an outstanding record of achievement in terms of the publications and future careers of the students who have graduated to date. The programme is highly regarded internationally and many of its alumni are now leading neuroscientists.
The programme takes an integrated approach to neuroscience and provides a wide range of skills training in experimental and theoretical methods that is intended to enable you to ask questions and tackle problems that transcend the traditional disciplines from which this field has evolved.

The DPhil Neuroscience programme is associated with a list of approved supervisors, which includes those staff currently supervising DPhil students on the programme and those who have done so in the last few years. During the MSc year, the students on this 4-year programme are exposed to many new areas of neuroscience through their lab rotations and lectures. Toward the end of that year, the students put together their own proposal for a DPhil project, which could potentially be carried out in any of the neuroscience research groups at Oxford, and are encouraged, where appropriate for the project, to design their research so that more than one lab is involved. This inevitably means that the supervisor pool must be fluid enough to allow this. Subject to approval by the Organising Committee, new supervisors can be added to the pool following submission of the students' research proposals. Thus, the following list represents only a small subset of the academic staff who could act as supervisors for DPhil projects on the Neuroscience programme.
