Nele Demeyere

MSc, PhD

Associate Professor of Experimental Psychology

  • Stroke Association Lord Leonard and Lady Estelle Wolfson Foundation Lecturer

My principal research interests lie in the field of Cognitive Neuropsychology with links to health research and rehabilitation.

My recent work has focussed on developing and trialling the Oxford Cognitive Screen: a new applied screening tool to allow a broad assessment of cognitive domains after stroke. We are contrasting this with other short assessments in acute stroke patients and are currently developing a tablet based screening tool for use by health professionals on the acute stroke wards.  In addition to improving diagnostics in acute patients, follow up assessments allow for the assessment of longer term outcomes.

The data is used in a multitude of ways from improving diagnostics for clinical use, addressing the predictive ability of short screening tests for long term outcomes and using the data for lesion-symptom analysis based on clinical admission scans.
