Graduate School

The 2017 round of Christopher Welch Scholarship competition has now concluded and we are pleased to announce that this year’s winner is James Kempton who will commence his DPhil studies in the Department of Zoology in October 2017, under the supervision of Professor Graham Taylor.

Details of the 2018 round of Christopher Welch Scholarship competition will be published in December 2017.

Christopher Welch Scholarships in Biological Sciences have been founded thanks to the bequest received in 1915 under the will of the late Christopher Welch, M.A., of Wadham College.

With the first award being made in 1918, they have a long and distinguished history and impressive legacy. Previous Christopher Welch Scholars include eminent researchers and scientists many of whom received national and international recognition for their contributions to science (including Nobel Prizes).
