The Newton-Abraham Studentship in Medical, Biological and Chemical Sciences
The Newton-Abraham Studentships were established in 2001 and have been offered as and when funds permit since then.
Current Newton-Abraham Studentships holders
At present, Newton-Abraham Studentships offer:
- payment of fees at Home rate
- a maintenance grant (currently £17,000 pa in years 1, 2, and 3 and £8,500 in year 4)
- Research Support Grant of £5,000 per annum in years 1, 2 and 3
This studentship is tenable in association with Lincoln College.
No person may be awarded a scholarship a second time.
Newton-Abraham Studentships were established to promote research in the medical, biological, and chemical sciences.
To be eligible for the award in 2021 admissions round, candidates must have applied to the University for admission for postgraduate study (by the deadline of 8th January 2021) in one of the Medical Sciences Division clinical departments:
Department of Oncology
Department of Paediatrics
Department of Primary Care Health Sciences
Department of Psychiatry
Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine
Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences
Nuffield Department of Population Health
Nuffield Department of Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences
Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences
Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health
Radcliffe Department of Medicine
How to apply
All applicants to the above MSD clinical departments whom have applied by the deadline of 8th January 2021, will automatically be considered for this award.
There will be no separate application required.
