1. Check Entry Requirements and Sit the UCAT entrance test

As well as fulfilling the academic entry requirements, all applicants are required to register for and sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) between July and September in the year that you are applying. The purpose of the test is to give us a single common point of comparison between all candidates. Please note we are unable to consider results from previous UCAT tests or from alternative aptitude tests. Find more information on the UCAT website.

Applicants should also read our statement on health & fitness to practise medicine.

2. Submit a UCAS application

Your UCAS application should be completed online by 6pm (BST) on 15 October 2026 for the course beginning in September 2027. The UCAS Application must list Oxford as one of your choices: the course code for the Graduate-Entry Medicine course is A101 (the course title is BMBCh4). You may indicate a preference for one college on your UCAS application form. For college selection, please refer to Graduate Entry Medicine: Which College?.

3. Complete the Oxford Supplementary Application Form

The Oxford Supplementary Application Form will be available online from 1 September 2026. It must be completed by 6pm (BST) on 22 October 2026, including the submissions of references.

References

Questions within the supplementary form ask you to provide details of two referees. Please give the names and positions of two referees, at least one of whom should be familiar with your most recent academic performance. These referees should not be the same as the referee provided on your UCAS application.

You must complete the 'Personal' section of the application form in order to unlock other sections. When you identify your two additional referees on the ‘References’ section and press the ‘Request’ button, it will trigger automated emails to referees. We strongly advise that you complete the 'References' section of the form as early as possible to allow your referees as much time as possible to submit.

Referees should complete the references on the form or upload a PDF letter via the application platform; letters of references received via mail or e-mail will not be considered. Applicants will receive an email when a reference has been submitted on their behalf.

The deadline for the form, including the submission of references, is 6pm (BST) on 22 October 2026. We will not consider late or incomplete applications.

Extenuating Circumstances

Applicants can outline specific and relevant Extenuating Circumstances that may have impacted upon previous academic performance via the application platform. Supporting evidence is not required at the point of application, but applicants should be ready to provide evidence on request following the application deadline.

Please note that we are unable to consider any circumstances relating to the UCAT, as candidates who attend the UCAT are declaring they are fit to test. Candidates aware of anything that might affect their performance on the day should not sit the test. Full details can be found on the UCAT Consortium's Fitness to Test policy page

4. Shortlisting and Interview

Shortlisting will take place during November and interviews will take place on 17 and 18 December 2026. You must be available for interview on the published dates: candidates are not admitted without interview, and it is not possible to arrange interviews at times other than those designated. Please note that this will apply to all applicants regardless of location.
