Julian C Knight
Functional genomics of inflammation and immunity
Julian Knight is Professor of Genomic Medicine at the University of Oxford and Tutorial Fellow at Merton College. He trained as a clinician scientist, studying Medicine at the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh before completing his DPhil at the University of Oxford at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in 1998. He developed his research interest in the functional genomics of immunity working in Oxford at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (WTCHG) and at Harvard University in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Since 2005 he has worked at the WTCHG as a Principal Investigator and as an Honorary Consultant Physician at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. The core interest of the lab’s research is how genetic variation between individuals modulates genes critical to mounting an appropriate immune and inflammatory response and may contribute to susceptibility to autoimmune and infectious disease (http://www.well.ox.ac.uk/knight-j).
