We have been able to provide a new suite of computers which ensures our students have access to high-spec machines. Students are no longer constrained with having to find their own resources to perform computational work and have the assurance of a purpose built and secure environment for their studies.
We have also been able to provide a mobile option for students who are unable to physically be in the room in-person, so they can still make use of the service we can now offer.
The grant also allowed us to support the students with key software, from scientific applications and safeguarding, we have a way to ensure the devices are managed – protecting data, security, and privacy, to make sure students have a safe working environment.
And for those students who would like to work with GPU intensive applications, and are interested in machine learning, we have also purchased a custom Windows PC installed with the best-in-class graphics processing unit - Nvidia RTX 4090.
A big thank you to the NOHF for allowing us to improve the student experience and provide equal opportunities to all.
