What we would expect you to achieve at the end of your Elective placement

By the end of your Elective, you should have had the opportunity:

  • To develop your own knowledge and skills in clinical medicine, and contribute to others' development, through active participation in tutorials and bedside teaching
  • To gain an understanding of disease processes in the area of your Elective subject, and how these may present
  • To appreciate the influence of social and cultural factors in health and illness
  • To meet and socialise with other medical students from Oxford, elsewhere in the UK and overseas
  • To use time and resources effectively
  • To understand the organisation of health care provision in the UK
  • To compare the system at Oxford University and other systems you have experienced
