Elective Programme: How does the selection process take place?
All applications will be considered within a gathered field.
Complete applications will be assessed initially by a panel within the Medical School. If your application is accepted by the Medical School it will be sent to the consultant of the department you have listed on your application form as your first choice of Elective placement. If that consultant is unable to accept your application it will be sent to the department you have listed as your second choice.
If you are offered a place by the Medical School you will be notified by email at the end of December. You will be sent a letter of confirmation in the post once it has been confirmed to which department you will be attached. Please remember that we receive very, very many applications for 50 places and competition is extremely strong. We are unable to offer feedback on unsuccessful applications.
