Whilst you will receive indemnity insurance through the Elective Programme, you are individually responsible for personal/medical insurance. You must therefore arrange sufficient cover to meet the cost of any medical attention should you become ill during your Elective period. If you live in a country that has a bilateral healthcare agreement with the UK you may decide that cover is sufficient as some NHS treatment may be available to you. If you live in a country that does not have such an agreement with the UK you must arrange medical insurance to cover the period of time you are in the UK and submit evidence of this insurance to the Elective Coordinator before you take up your place on the Elective Programme.
