This interactive online MSD Skills training course is most suitable for those in their third or fourth year of their DPhil preparing for their viva, NOT for transfer viva or MSc taught student.

COURSE AIMS

This 2.5 hours interactive online MSD Skills training course is most suitable for those in their third or fourth year of their DPhil or final year of MSc by research.

This course will take place as an interactive online session, with free rein for students to ask questions throughout. Tutor(s) can 'red flag' problems that have occurred in the past, but they can also highlight what makes for an excellent candidate and successful viva.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions from an alumni who recently successfully defended their DPhil viva voce examination in Medical Sciences.

This course has pre-course materials needed for reference in the session and post-course materials, which will be available after the live session. These resources can be accessed in 'My Resources' in CoSY, the booking system.

COURSE CONTENT

  • To inform students of examination formalities, University regulations and administrative requirements.
  • To assist students in preparation for the viva and the potential generic questions that could be asked by their examiners.
  • To provide the attendees with guidance as how to plan their theses.
