Apply for this courseThe aim of course is to understand how to critically evaluate and select the most pressing needs for healthcare, comparing and contrasting the regulatory requirements with regards to market viability, and design a critical case around a proposed solution.
COURSE CONTENT
This need-led innovation workshop provides an introduction to the topic of needs-led innovation. It creates the opportunity to create “insights” for different medical domains and apply a systematic methodology to find specific needs. By critically mapping out problems and finding connections, new insights can emerge. Training is offered to leverage insights and create testable solutions. The course will introduce need assessment, critical review of problems and identification of (regulatory) barriers for medical students through engagement with needs-led innovation. The vision of the course is to give students a hands-on orientation to the principles required to find and solve unmet clinical needs.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- The students are able to apply a needs-led methodology within the clinical setting
- The students understand the benefits of “market pull”
- The students are able to critically observe within a hospital setting
- The students can describe the first stages of the regulatory journey
- The students are able to identify regulatory barriers

HOW IT WILL WORK
For the interactive session, you will be sent the link in the automated communication along with joining instructions. To join the session, you can click on the link 15 minutes before the session. Once the tutor has started the session they will tell you what to do.
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE ON SURVEY COMPLETION
It is now a requirement that you complete the three short questions in the survey you receive after attending the course. Once you have submitted the survey, you will be sent an email with a link to your attendance certificate. This is to ensure we receive the feedback we need to evaluate and improve our courses. Survey results are downloaded and stored anonymously.
PLEASE NOTE
Where there is no cost in the shopping trolley, no deposit is required. However, two or more non-attendances or late cancellations without good reason will be logged and may mean you cannot attend any further MSD training that term. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for further information.
