Guide to Old Road Campus Parking (effective 17 Sep 2018)
Using the multi-storey car park
The multi-storey car park is located opposite Old Road Campus Research Building (Green Building) on the right-hand side as you enter the campus from Roosevelt Drive. There are:
- 417 spaces for cars
- 4 motorbikes spaces (marked M)
- 10 electrical charging points
- 5 accessible spaces (for BioEscalator and Novo Nordisk staff)
Vehicles enter the multi-storey car park via the second entrance on the right, signed ‘Parking’. The first, larger entrance is for the Distribution Centre only. Parking for permit holders is on the upper levels – via the ramp to the left. Visitors’ parking is on the lower levels – via the downward ramp to the right. Permits are distributed via the usual University process.
Access to the car park by foot is via The Cut, a pedestrian walkway between the Innovation Building and the multi-storey car park. Here you will find lifts and a stairway to all car park levels. The Cut will be open during business hours, but you will need to present your University card to the card reader to access this area and the individual car park levels between 9pm and 6am.
Please note, the ramps in this car park are two way (unlike many multi-storey car parks, where there are different ramps for entering and exiting), so be alert to traffic coming towards you and stay in your lane.
For your safety and security, the car park will be lit 24/7, and there are cameras on each floor. Security Services have a base in the Innovation Building and will be patrolling the car park throughout the night. If you have any concerns, please call Security Services on 01865 272944. In case of emergency (24 hours), please call 01865 289999 or 999.
There is no cycle parking within the car park, but there is a covered, secure cycle store to the east of this building for University card holders to use, as well as cycle racks outside of each building.
Operational Parking Spaces
Operational spaces for the BioEscalator and Novo Nordisk will be within the multi-storey car park and clearly labelled. Operational spaces for the other buildings/departments on campus are as near to these buildings as possible.
To ensure contractors/others can get on site and support departmental operations as required, there are also a number of operational spaces on the campus for vehicles over 2.1 meters, (transit vans etc.), which can be booked through Planon. Usage will be monitored and reviewed and adjustments made as needed.
