COURSE AIM

The aim of this workshop is to outline the key principles of how to perform a systematic review and the basic principles of meta-analysis.

COURSE FORMAT

Lecture style and small group practical.

COURSE CONTENT

This workshop will provide a basic introduction to systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The workshop content will include:

  • what is a systematic review and why do we need them.
  • an overview of the process of conducting a systematic review and the basic principles of how to develop a systematic review protocol.
  • what is a meta-analysis and the basic principles of how the results are displayed and interpreted.

Participants will also gain practical experience in developing a well-defined question for a systematic review using the PICOS approach (participants, interventions, comparator, outcomes and type of study).
