Matthew Whitby


Genetic recombination and DNA repair in eukaryotes

Matthew Whitby is a Professor of Molecular Genetics at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford. He obtained his first degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter and a Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Nottingham. After post-doctoral work at the University of Nottingham, Matthew moved to Oxford to set up his own lab studying the molecular mechanisms of homologous recombination. He has held Research Fellowships from both the Medical Research Council and Wellcome Trust, and is currently Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Biochemistry.
