Developing original ideas through analytical frameworks ONLINE
Wednesday, 08 November 2023, 1pm to 3pm
Apply for this courseThis two-hour course is for any postgraduate contemplating the application of analytical frameworks to qualitative data. It will help you understand how viewing data from various angles will enable you, the researcher, to see your data anew each time.
COURSE CONTENT
The focus for this session will be on analysing written excerpts of academic research from different theoretical perspectives. The analysis of transcripts is a necessity in many empirical academic studies. The application of different theoretical lenses to datasets helps to view their data from different angles. Dr Sarah Frodsham will use excerpts, taken from her own observational PhD data, and invite you to analyse these through various analytical frameworks. She will then show you how this approach enabled her to generate original contributions to knowledge – so that you can apply a similar approach to your own work.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- To apply and become familiar with the application of analytical frameworks to research datasets.
- To construe how originality can emerge through data analysis.
- To understand how examining data from different theoretical perspectives can facilitate the generation of a comprehensive analytical framework.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
