Simon de Lusignan

Professor of Primary Care and Clinical Informatics

I am a senior academic GP with research interests in clinical informatics and health outcomes and lead the Clinical Informatics and Health Outcomes research group..  Alongside my Departmental role I am a Senior Research Fellow of Green Templeton College.

My research interests focus on the use of routine data for surveillance, quality improvement, research and education as well as how technology has enabled new roles in health care and support self-management.

I am Director of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research and Surveillance Centre (RSC).  This is one of Europe's oldest sentinel systems.  RCGP RSC has produced a weekly report of influenza, respiratory and other infections in primary care for over 55 years.  RCGP RSC works closely with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to report on the COVID-19 pandemic and on COVID vaccine effectiveness.  More information at: www.rcgp.org.uk/rsc

We have developed a digital hub - ORCHID - to support research platforms in addition to the RCGP RSC-Surveillance Platform.  Details of how to collaborate with us to support clinical trials, or to access our data can be found at the Clinical Informatics and Health Outcomes research group website: ORCHID ::: Oxford-RCGP RSC | Clinical Informatics Research Group we are also included in the Health Data Research UK list of Trusted Research Environments.
