Ellen Meek
Strategic Project Manager
My role involves supporting the planning and delivery of strategic projects within the Medical Sciences Division.
I initially started at the University within the Medical Sciences Divisional Office as a Research Funding and Communications Officer. I then spent several years working at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) in a variety of roles including working as a Portfolio Manager for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and as a Senior Programme Manager for UKRI Talent and Skills, developing UKRI’s policies around the Technician Commitment and Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.
I returned to the University in 2021 as a Strategic Project Manager within the Strategic Planning and Projects Team before taking up the role of Head of Compliance within the Department of Biomedical Services. I have now returned to the Divisional Office for the third time, re-joining the Strategic Planning and Projects Team as a Strategic Project Manager.
I have a background in veterinary medicine and initially started my career as a small animal veterinary surgeon before completing an MSc in Science Communication and making the move into research funding, policy and programme and project management.
