progress and Look ahead

Plot B1(Global Health Building) superstructure works are progressing well with Topping Out scheduled for mid-July. There is minimal impact to campus from current activities.

Plot B2 enabling works have commenced and are due to proceed until the end of June. The site perimeter is now enclosed with fencing and clearing of vegetation has commenced.

These works also include utilities removal and removal of hard standings which may entail some noisy activities at times, these will be mitigated wherever possible and advance notice will be provided.

A ground breaking ceremony for the B2 project is planned for 24th June. This symbolic ceremony commemorates the transition from planning to commencing site works and is an important milestone for the project.

HV ring main works

Enerveo are due to attend between Friday 16th - Tuesday 24th June to divert an HV power cable as part of the Plot B2 works.

We don’t anticipate any impact to the power supply on campus; however, all campus Building Managers have been notified of mitigations and emergency procedures.

Nursery access path

The path alongside the Triangle nursery has been reduced in width due to the Plot B2 works. The path will remain open for throughout the duration of these works for pedestrians only.

Cyclists are required to dismount to ensure the safety of other path users.

Campus impact

In all development activities, efforts are made to minimise the impact on the campus environment and its day-to-day operations. However, certain disruptions may be inevitable during large-scale projects due to their complexity and scope.

Potentially disruptive activities are scheduled to take place before 11am and after 3pm during normal working hours, Monday to Friday.

Plot B2 site clearance and enabling works will entail the intermittent use of plant machinery during the month of June. This is not anticipated to cause significant noise or disruption although there may be periods of increased noise and vibration during necessary breaking out of the concrete slab which is scheduled for Monday 16th, 23rd, 30th June

No weekend or out-of-hours works are scheduled for either project.

environment

As part of the enabling works for Plot B2 it is necessary to fell 3 unprotected trees, one of which is in very poor condition. This has been arranged in accordance with the council tree officer.

We appreciate the temporary loss of greenery may be disappointing and appreciate your patience during the period until the development and associated planting is completed.

The picnic benches formerly situated on the mound between the Innovations Building / Bioescalator and Triangle nursery. have been moved to the IDRM garden at the front of the building and the lawn adjacent to the Henry Wellcome Building

Road Closures & Detours

The image below highlights the path alongside the Triangle nursery which is now restricted to pedestrian access. Cyclists are required to dismount to ensure the safety of other path users.

There is a temporary boundary extension to Southern side of Plot B2 to facilitate HV works. Location is shown in the image below.

The carriageway restrictions are being managed with temporary traffic lights. This is anticipated to be in place for approximately 2 weeks.
