progress and Look ahead
Plot B1(Global Health Building) superstructure works are progressing well with Topping Out scheduled for mid-July. There is minimal impact to campus from current activities.
Plot B2 HV cable diversion works were successfully completed on 24th June. Enabling works are due to continue into July. Most of the noisy activities have been completed although there may be intermittent noise.
In the morning of 24th June there was a small ground breaking ceremony on Plot B2. This ceremony formally commemorated the exciting transition from the planning stage to the commencement of construction. We look forward to providing further updates as the building work progresses.
b1 crane removal 26th and 27th july
Sparky the crane will be leaving the campus for pastures new on the weekend of 26th – 27th July (weather conditions permitting). This will entail some campus road closures during this period on the route between the B1 plot and Roosevelt drive. Further details will be provided in due course.
Campus impact
In all development activities, efforts are made to minimise the impact on the campus environment and its day-to-day operations. However, certain disruptions may be inevitable during large-scale projects due to their complexity and scope.
Potentially disruptive activities are scheduled to take place before 11am and after 3pm during normal working hours, Monday to Friday.
Plot B2 site clearance and enabling works will entail the intermittent use of plant machinery. This is not anticipated to cause significant noise or disruption. Any weekend or out-of-hours works are detailed below.
Road Closures & Detours
A new zebra crossing will be installed on the weekend of 5th – 6th July to provide safer access across the road from the nursery path to the BDI in the location shown in the image below. The main roadway will be blocked for traffic during this time except for emergency access.
The image below highlights the path alongside the Triangle nursery which is now restricted to pedestrian access. Cyclists are required to dismount to ensure the safety of other path users.
Access to the campus from the South is unaffected.
There is a temporary boundary extension to Southern side of Plot B2. Location is shown in the image below.
The carriageway restrictions are being managed with temporary traffic lights. This is anticipated to be in place for approximately 2 weeks.
