Biomedical Sciences: What happens if I do not perform very well in the BMAT?
BMAT is a key piece of information when making short-listing and selection decisions. It is the only score common to all applicants, and, for that reason, provides a useful snapshot of ability and potential across the field under consideration. Whilst it remains only one element that tutors may draw on, it is a particularly important one. In the last admissions exercise (December 2017) the average percentage score (see the BMAT page for information on weightings) for those candidates short-listed for interview was 59%, and the average score for those placed was 61%.
