Research Alliance with IBM
IBM Research is the largest industrial research organization in the world and has twelve labs on six continents. IBM employees have garnered six Nobel Prizes, six Turing Awards, 20 inductees into the U.S. National Inventors Hall of Fame, 19 National Medals of Technology, five National Medals of Science and three Kavli Prizes.
About the Oxford-IBM Alliance
The main scientific focus for the collaboration is the interface of computational, Physical and Life Sciences. Specifically the combination of experimental data, computer simulations, AI and emerging computing platforms such as Quantum Computing. Applications of these tools and techniques are focussed on broad topics including Drug discovery, fundamental biochemistry, reaction predictions in Chemistry, material sciences and climate science. The BPO supports a broad research alliance including the establishment of a new DPhil programme in Computational Discovery. Through this programme we have appointed 16 students on joint projects.
