Virus infection and cell signaling

  • Our research is aimed at structural and mechanistic understanding of infections by human pathogens, using an integrative approach by combining three-dimensional cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM), with biochemical, biophysical, computational and molecular biology methods. Current research efforts are directed to i) HIV pathogenesis, in particular HIV capsid assembly, maturation, and interactions with host cell factors; ii) Molecular mechanisms of signal transduction and cooperativity in bacterial chemotaxis; and iii) CryoEM technology development, including correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) and tools for high resolution 3D protein localization in cryoEM.
