Biomedical Sciences: Do you use AS grades when short-listing for interview?
AS-level grades are not used formally as not all candidates sit AS examinations, or if they do, schools do not certify these results until A2 results are available; additionally, candidates are not obliged to enter all of their module grades in the UCAS form.
However where AS grades (or other qualifications, such as Scottish Highers) are available, these can instil confidence that an applicant is working well towards their school examinations. This information may be used, along with other details on the application (and in an interview) to determine a final decision.
