Professor Schuster-Böckler has held a long-standing interest in understanding the causes and consequences of mutation rate heterogeneity. His research group have recently focused on analysing the influence of different DNA modifications on mutability, and describing how DNA replication changes the distributions of mutations in cancer genomes.
