Research Evaluation Manager

I am the Research Evaluation Manager for the Medical Sciences Division, with responsibility for coordinating research evaluation activity across the Division and ensuring that evaluation practices are clear, proportionate and evidence-informed.

A core part of my role is the management of the Research Excellence Framework (REF), including providing strategic advice and practical support to the Associate Head of Division (Research), the Head of the Research Strategy and Funding Team, and Heads of Department. I coordinate the development of narrative, data and supporting processes for REF submissions, working closely with colleagues in Departments and with central University teams.

Beyond REF delivery, I contribute to the development of consistent and transparent approaches to research evaluation within the Division, supporting departments in navigating evolving expectations and assessment frameworks.

In addition to my institutional role, I am a REF 2029 Main Panel A Advisor and the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) REF Special Interest Group Champion, contributing to sector-wide discussion, sharing good practice, and supporting the research management community.
