Research Culture Facilitator

As the Research Culture Facilitator, I support our commitment that researchers across the Medical Sciences Division and beyond have an equally positive experience of their role.

With an aim to accelerate progress on improving research culture, I facilitate connections within and beyond the Division, support the development and implementation of research culture strategies, share learning and best practice, and coordinate representation for researchers within the Medical Sciences Division.

Research culture has many strands that contribute to the experience of researchers, and the quality of our research relies on a supportive, inclusive and fair research culture. I work closely with the Divisional Advocate for Research Staff and the Research Staff Forum, to give researchers a voice. I collaborate with colleagues in many areas, including equality, diversity and inclusivity, research practice, professional development, recognition and reward, and communications.

I joined the Medical Sciences Divisional Office in 2022, after seven years supporting researchers in the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in the Nuffield Department of Medicine as scientific writer and facilitator. Prior to that, I was a scientific editor for the journals Nature Reviews Genetics and Nature Biotechnology, which followed from a DPhil and post-doctoral research at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine here in Oxford.
