Chris Pugh

OUCAGS Director

Chris is Professor of Renal Medicine at Oxford University, an Honorary Consultant Physician at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, and a Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford. In addition he is now Associate Head of the Medical Sciences Division with a remit relating to Clinical Affairs.

Chris has been Director of OUCAGS since 2012 and in parallel is an Associate Dean in NHSE-WTE Thames Valley. He is being succeeded in his OUCAGS role by Professor Dom Furniss as Head of School and Associate Professor James Fullerton as Deputy Head of School.

Chris undertakes research in hypoxia biology, has run projects on the application of real-time physiological monitoring to the care of patients on dialysis and has worked clinically in all branches of Nephrology, He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and of the Royal College of Physicians.

He has previously overseen Oxford’s Graduate-Entry Medical Course and is now Director of the University of Oxford’s Doctor of Medicine degree.
