As a Safety Officer, my role is to help heads of department fulfil their health and safety responsibilities and ensure compliance with University Safety Policies. I work closely with Departmental Safety Officers and Laboratory Managers to help achieve this through safety inspections, reviewing risk assessments and local training initiatives. Previously, I was the Departmental Safety Officer for RDM-NDCLS, and prior to that I wworked a post-doctoral research scientist for many years, primarily in the field of haemato-oncology; I also spent some time working in a small biotech company working on the validation of diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic cancer targets.

I have a BSc. (Hons) in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Coventry, and a PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Nottingham.
