The Trinity Term 2020 round of the Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF – deadline 29 April 2020) has been cancelled.
The ISSF Chair and fund Coordinators in MSD have taken the difficult decision to cancel this funding round due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The ISSF Committee apologise sincerely to researchers who were intending to apply to this round and we understand the difficulties facing researchers and their teams at the current time. Many researchers across the University are currently unable to conduct their research with all non-essential access to Departments and laboratories being restricted, with additional impact on clinical research and field work. The Committee are hopeful that the next round of the Wellcome ISSF scheme will run in Michaelmas Term with a deadline in mid-October 2020, and further information will follow as soon as possible. When the current restrictions are lifted the ISSF Committee look forward to continuing to support the excellent researchers and projects across the University.
This fund is now closed to applications. For the next deadline please see the Internal Research Award Management System (IRAMS).
The final calls in the ISSF-3 funding round are expected to be:
- Michaelmas Term 2020 (deadline around 14 October 2020): Main and Small Awards
- Hilary Term 2021 (deadline in January 2021): Small Awards only
When preparing applications for these deadlines, please note that the funding for Oxford's Wellcome ISSF block grant will end on 30 September 2022; all projects must end and be fully spent by this date. No extensions beyond 30 Sep 2022 will be permitted.
Hilary Term 2021 will be the last ISSF call. Subsequent funding rounds are dependent on receiving further ISSF funding from Wellcome.
