Research Funding Manager

As the Research Funding Manager I support development and implementation of the Medical Sciences Division’s research strategy, with specific responsibility for the Division's internal research funding streams. I am Secretary of the Medical Sciences Internal Fund (MSIF) and the MSD Sub-committee of the John Fell Fund. I have also administered the Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund, the COVID-19 Research Response Fund and the COVID-19 Rebuilding Research Momentum Fund, among others.

I lead the Division's internal selection processes (called coordinated bids) to select candidates for external funding schemes when the number of applicants is restricted by the funder, and also support strategically important or inter-departmental grant applications.

I first joined the Medical Sciences Divisional Office as a Project Manager in the Business Partnerships Office, before moving to my current role in the Research Strategy and Funding team in 2019. My background is in clinical research and I joined the University of Oxford in 2011 when I managed early and late phase clinical trials in cancer treatment and prevention. Before this I worked for the University of Cambridge Department of Paediatrics.
