Save the date! Microbiome 2025 One Health conference

Date: Monday 15 & Tuesday 16 September 2025

Location: Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG

The conference brings together academia, industry, funders, and entrepreneurs to highlight and advance the UK’s strengths in microbiome science, and to identify new translational opportunities. We invite you to join us in Oxford for a two-day programme of exciting microbiome science which spans human and animal health, plant biology, and environmental research. We look forward to welcoming you!

OMiN Spring Members Meeting – May 2025

A meeting of the OMiN members took place at the Department of Biology on the afternoon of 1 May 2025.

The contents of this meeting were diverse, interesting and rich. From the island of Wales to locations in Africa, from environmental AMR to early life pectin's effect, and from wild mice to gnotobiotic mice, all converge into the domain of microbiome studies. The interactions during the refreshment session were good. The time and efforts which the speakers have spent on their talk preparations were much appreciated.

Members event: Emerging Methods in Microbiome Research, October 2024

A meeting of OMiN members took place at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology on the afternoon of 14 October 2024. The meeting was opened by Jethro Johnson, Deputy Director of Oxford Centre for Microbiome Studies. We had two sessions of scientific talks, followed by an awards ceremony for the logo design competition winners. The meeting was closed by Jethro Johnson, followed by a networking opportunity.

OMiN Logo Design Competitio, June 2024

In view of the World Microbiome Day 2024, held 27 June each year, which celebrates achievements in microbiome research and the importance of the microbiome in human health and the environment, the Oxford Microbiome Network will call for a logo design competition for the network. A total of 5 entries were collected. Through voting by the registered members, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes were selected. The first prize design will be used for the branding of this network.

Network Launch Meeting, May 2024

The network officially launched on 20 May 2024 with an event at Keble College. Read more about the launch meeting
