Introduction to the Harassment Advisor Network
The University does not tolerate any form of harassment or victimisation and expects all members of the University community, its visitors and contractors to treat each other with respect, courtesy and consideration. Read more about the University policy.
It may be that you have recently experienced an incident of harassment for the first time, or you may have suffered a prolonged period of harassment in silence, or you might not know if what you experienced constituted bullying behavior. Whatever stage or circumstance, there are a number of people who are available to help you.
The Equality and Diversity Unit (EDU) has set up a Harassment Advisor Network, and each Medical Sciences Division (MSD) department has a number of advisors available to all staff. However in case you are more comfortable talking to somebody outside of your department MSD has over XXX advisors on hand that you can call on.
What our trained MSD Harassment Advisors want you to know – if you feel you have been subject to bullying behaviour:
- We are here to listen to you, and help guide you. We are not here to judge.
- Everything you say will be kept completely confidential (unless, exceptionally, an individual is considered to be at risk of serious harm)
- We can help guide you through the potential formal procedures if that is what you want, but talking to us does not mean a formal case is started
- If you’re not sure the behavior you experienced was bullying or harassment you are welcome to talk it through with us
- We have been trained by the EDU to support you
- You can speak to any advisor listed here if you are more comfortable talking to someone outside your department
On our MSD Harassment Advisors Network page, we have listed all our advisors, where they are based, their departmental role, and which department they are in to help you find an advisor you feel most comfortable reaching out to.
