The University of Oxford has been ranked first in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) Subject Rankings for Medicine and Health, making it the 15th consecutive year for Oxford to lead in the medical sciences.

15 years of leading the THE rankings for Medicine and Health reflects Oxford’s strong commitment to advancing the medical sciences and continuing to improve the outlooks for global health be it through vaccine development, cancer research, neuroscience, or public health initiatives, as well as the collective efforts of all the staff working across different capacities. The division takes immense pride in being able to bring together like-minded people who are focused on improving health and working to the highest standards of excellence.

The Times Higher Education (THE) rankings are widely regarded as one of the most reputable and trusted resources for academic excellence. THE rankings are drawn from a rigorous process of evaluating universities in terms of teaching, research quality, industry partnerships, and international collaborations. 

THE medical and health ranking evaluate universities across medicine, dentistry, nursing, and other healthcare disciplines. The 2026 Medicine and Health ranking includes 1230 universities from 102 countries and territories, using 18 trusted and rigorous performance indicators.
