Chair of Medical Sciences Internal Fund Committe

As chair of the Medical Sciences Internal Fund (MSIF) committee my aim is to help early career researchers develop their own individual projects so they can apply for personal funding especially external fellowships. We aim to fund new projects with pump-priming funds that allow critical data to be obtained. Sometimes this can be in response to comments from funding bodies. Overall our aim is to use the funds to make an important difference to people at a critical time in their career.

My own research is in T cell immunity, with a background in clinical medicine and infection diseases. I am especially interested in unconventional T cells and their role in host defence and tissue homeostasis -  my group studies their role in viral infection, vaccines, inflammation and cancer.
