The winners of the 2026 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards were announced at a special ceremony hosted by the Vice-Chancellor in the Schwarzman’s Sohmen Concert Hall on Thursday 4 June.

Vice- Chancellor's Awards 2026

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards recognise the achievements and celebrate success across the collegiate University, from academics and researchers to professional, technical and support staff. 

There were 170 award entries across the 13 categories this year, with over 1,000 individuals included in the nominations.

This year’s prizes/commendations were awarded to the following staff and initiatives from across the Medical Sciences Division: 

Teaching and Learning Award

  • Winner - Sustaining lifelong learning in evidence-based healthcare (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences)

  • Highly Commended - Graduate programme in brain imaging (Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Department of Psychiatry)

Support for Students Award

  • Highly Commended - Somerville skills hub (Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences)

Research Engagement Award

  • Winner - Patient-led research transforming vulvovaginal health (Nuffield Department of Primary Health Care Sciences).
  • Highly Commended - My baby's brain (Department of Paediatrics)  

Research Culture Award

  • Winner - Research culture toolkit (Medical Sciences Divisional Office)
  • Highly commended - Embedding sustainability in research practices (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences)

Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Award

  • Highly Commended - OrganOx (Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences)
  • Highly Commended - Oxailis (Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health and Medical Sciences Divisional Office)

Making a Difference Globally Award

  • Winner - Oxford crisis education (OxCRED) (Medical School Offices and Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences)
  • Highly Commended - Equity in global cancer care for children (Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences and Department of Paediatrics).

Empowering people Award

  • Winner - Motherhood at work (Department of Psychiatry)
  • Highly Commended - The confident manager series (Radcliffe Department of Medicine)
  • Highly Commended - Management in medicine programme (NDM Experimental Medicine, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences and Department of Paediatrics).
