Matt Dunne

Deputy Director MSD IT

Matt is an experienced Professional Services leader with a background in service management, digital transformation and organisational change. 

Joining the Medical Sciences Division in February 2024, Matt’s role as Deputy Director of MSD IT Services involves leading divisional IT service delivery and partnerships for departments across the Old Road Campus, John Radcliffe Hospital and City Centre sites. MSD IT Services supports > 8,000 academic, research and professional staff across the 16 departments that comprise medical sciences at the University of Oxford. 

Matt started his career at Oxford in 2011 to launch the university’s first shared-service centre that delivered IT and data capabilities to support collegiate fundraising and alumni relations. Working closely with colleges, department and divisions - he led on business partnerships, stakeholder engagement and user support services that supported the university’s £3bn Oxford Thinking Campaign. 

In 2022, Matt joined the Nuffield Department of Medicine where he led strategic change programmes across Professional Services team based in Europe, Africa & Asia. He led a range of digital transformation and organisational change projects including the launch of the division’s annual staff flu jab programme. 

Prior to joining the University of Oxford, Matt was a qualified Intelligence Trainer for Thames Valley Police, delivering learning & development solutions for the country’s largest non-metropolitan police force.
