Lead for Clinical Skills Teaching

I have been involved with medical student teaching here since graduating from Oxford Medical School myself in 2013. I am the lead for clinical skills teaching, a lecturer in clinical medicine at Exeter College and an educational supervisor for clinical students.

I am responsible for:

  • Teaching clinical students the practical procedures outlined in Outcomes for Graduates including  phlebotomy, cannulation and catheterisation
  • Running clinical skills examinations to assess our students prior to graduation
  • Running simulation sessions, including interprofessional sessions, to prepare students for their FY1 jobs using high fidelity manikins or actors
  • Leading the Medical Education Special Study Module for final year clinical students
  • Recruiting and training resident doctors to be faculty and examiners for the above
