Divisional Director of Skills Training and Researcher Development
As the Divisional Director of Skills Training and Researcher Development, I provide academic leadership for researcher development and training provision across the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford. This role oversees the delivery of the Medical Science Division Skills Training Programme.
Alongside this, I provide strategic oversight of the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Division's skills training and researcher development programmes. I oversee that these high-quality training programmes are aligned with sector best practice, and I work closely with academic, professional services and external partners to ensure provision meets the evolving needs of researchers. I chair the Divisional Skills Training Committee, contribute to graduate education and research culture initiatives, and collaborate across departments and the wider University to foster an inclusive, supportive and forward-looking research training environment.
I also work in the Nuffield Department of Population Health as Associate Professor, where my research focuses on the measurement and impact of adiposity, dietary intake, and other vascular risk factors with the risk of cardiometabolic disease in large prospective studies worldwide. I provide curriculum development and pedagogical leadership as the Associate Course Director for the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology, where I serve as module lead for the statistics and epidemiology modules, and I coordinate several short courses in epidemiology and statistics.
If you would like to teach or provide a new training course on the MSD Skills Training Programme, please contact me at: jennifer.carter@ndph.ox.ac.uk.
