Associate Head of Division (Research & Innovation)
The Associate Head of Division (Research & Innovation) provides leadership support to the Head of Division in areas related to research and innovation, including representing the Division’s interest within the University, with external funders, with industry and with potential partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Leadership of divisional research and innovation strategy, consistent with the University’s strategic plan
- Facilitating cross-departmental and cross-divisional strategies in support of research and innovation themes and platform technologies and infrastructure
- Developing strategic partnerships with industry, universities, and other organisations
- Evaluation of the Division’s research and innovation activity and its impact; including the REF exercises
- Providing strategic leadership for research culture related activity
- Leadership, coordination and support for large-scale, cross-departmental and cross-divisional strategic bids and initiatives
- Overseeing the strategy for the use of internal research and innovation funds
- Ensuring that all members of MSD can access high-quality support for research and innovation activity, business partnerships, and research management (through the work of the Research Strategy and Funding team, Business Partnerships Office, and Translational Research Office within MSD, and Research Services and Oxford University Innovation within the wider university)
- Oversight of innovation space planning
- Developing a culture of entrepreneurship through reward, recognition and skills training
- Oversee other MSD academic leadership roles relating to research and innovation
