History and archives of Oxford Medical Alumni
For over 140 years Oxford medical alumni have come together to support each other and to stay connected with the University. The Oxford Graduate Medical Club was founded in 1884. This evolved into the Oxford Medical Alumni in 1999, which included the integration of other activities such as the Oxford Medical Lecture Club. With the introduction of the Biomedical Sciences program in 2011, and the formation of the School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences in 2022, the School is now proud to recognise a global community of over 12,000 alumni comprising all former students from Pre-Clinical and Clinical Medicine, Graduate-Entry Medicine and Biomedical Science programmes, as well as predecessor programmes such as Physiology.
Alumni Archives
Over the years a considerable amount of alumni-related materials have been archived, ranging from the Oxford Medicine Magazine, reunion yearbooks, year group intake photographs, and copies of the student Gazette.
The archive is currently under review to make it more accessible. If you have any materials which you feel should be added to the archive, or you wish to access archived content, please contact the Alumni Engagement Executive (Medicine).
There are several secondary associated archives which we invite you to review, alongside articles on some of our historic alumni: Sir Roger Bannister and Sir Peter Radcliffe
