Oxford Cancer is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Adam Mead as Director, joining Professors Mark Middleton and Tim Elliott in leading Oxford’s interdisciplinary cancer research community.

The expanded leadership team brings together internationally recognised expertise spanning clinical trials, immuno-oncology, translational science, and fundamental research, reflecting Oxford Cancer’s commitment to accelerating innovation from discovery science to patient benefit.

Professor Adam Mead is Professor of Haematology at the University of Oxford, Consultant Haematologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Deputy Director of the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine based at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the genetic and cellular complexity of myeloproliferative neoplasms and related blood cancers, with the aim of developing more precise and effective treatments for patients.

An internationally recognised clinician scientist, Professor Mead has led pioneering translational research programmes combining stem cell biology, genomics, and clinical trials to better understand how blood cancers develop, evolve, and respond to treatment. His appointment further strengthens Oxford Cancer’s breadth across solid tumour and haematological cancer research.
