Academic Lead for Policy Engagement

As Divisional Academic Lead for Policy Engagement, Deirdre Hollingsworth provides strategic leadership for the Divisional office work enabling and supporting our research to impact public policy at a local, national and international level. Deirdre is also the Divisional representative on the Oxford Policy Engagement Network Steering Group.

In the role, Deirdre works closely with Naomi Gibson, the Division’s Public and Policy Engagement Facilitator, to provide strategic direction to the Medical Sciences Divisional Office’s approach to supporting policy engagement. She is part of the academic leadership team reporting to Professor Heidi Johansen-Berg (Associate Head (Research), supporting the Medical Sciences Division’s ambitions to maximise research impact, funding and reputation of our research through innovation and engagement.

Deirdre is Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Nuffield Department of Medicine, working on the development of mathematical, statistical, and computational models which inform disease dynamics and translation to global health policy.
