23 january

With Project 696 now proceeding there will be increased activity on the site opposite the ORCRB. On Thursday and Friday 26th & 27th January this week there will be a number of very large deliveries to the campus, including a 300 tonne mobile crane, which will set up within the site, a 100 tonne, 21 metre ballast lorry and several articulated lorries carrying sections of the tower crane.

All of the vehicles will be banked by the crane installation team, and the mobile crane and ballast lorry will come into site before normal working hours. Ben Curnow, on behalf of Mace the main contractor, has sent out the following communication:

I would be grateful if you could pass the information onto colleagues and visitors and ask that they follow any directions given by the banksmen during the movement of vehicles. Campus users should be particularly careful when walking or cycling in the area outside of site over the two days. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

For any concerns with the works please email Ben Curnow
